Diversity and Inclusion

People are the catalyst for changing your organisation for good. To keep up, your organisation needs talent that matches the complexities of the world we live in.

DE&I Mission

Falcon Brook Search is a purpose-driven management consultancy and talent solutions firm that partners with clients to advance diversity and inclusion objectives. Diversity and inclusion are embedded into everything we do from executive level searches to how we operate in our own firm. In fact, we are the only female led, 80% diverse search firm in the market.

Our consultants are motivated to effect change in the workplace by identifying, promoting and increasing the representation of diverse talent in senior leadership positions.

Our Challenge

Many industries, such as energy, remain highly male-dominated. A common challenge is that clients do not fully understand the size of the female energy talent pool, and often, energy recruitment is reactive rather than proactive. This can lead to hiring ‘like for like’ talent through direct referrals and recommendations. Hiring managers may be unaware of the broader talent pool.

Diversity Matters

Many companies we work with are committed to increasing DE&I in leadership as leveraging different perspectives encourages better decision making, competitive advantage and provides new paths to solving problems. It is also shown that companies with a diverse workforce are more likely to outperform peers and excel in areas like innovation and profitability.

Energy firms are showing an increased preference for managers with diverse teams. In a CFA Institute survey of more than 800 institutional firms, 83 per cent stated that gender diversity was important to them. Over half (55 per cent) believed that gender diversity in teams leads to better performance through diverse viewpoints, and the remaining 28 per cent said they preferred to hire from firms with a corporate culture that is supportive of gender diversity.

Solutions

Whether we are assisting our partners to connect with high quality key hires or helping them identify paths toward accelerated growth and performance, D&I is at the core of our service.

By prioritizing the understanding of the size of the talent pool and strategically engaging with diverse talent, we can not only increase the likelihood of hiring more female talent but begin the engagement process ahead of a vacancy arising. This produces a pool of engaged, high-quality, diverse talent, that is interested by and has ‘bought into’ your brand.

Our consultants at Falcon Brook can help you on your diversity journey. We are driven to help companies and individuals create a more sustainable future for diverse talent.

Returnships

Looking for senior female leaders with the skills and competencies your organisation needs to thrive? Or perhaps you are ready to re-ignite your career path after a work hiatus.

At times women have gaps in their work history due to caregiving or other family obligations. We saw in 2020, that it’s often women who step out of the workforce temporarily to handle family matters, but they have the desire to re-enter. Many of these women have the relevant skills required and rich work experience, but they just need “shoring up” on skills to contribute to senior level expectations.

Falcon Brook advocates for companies that offer “returnships” focused on helping women fine tune the skills needed to succeed. A returnship is essentially a return-to-work program where people can return to their careers without having to start from the bottom of the career ladder. The employer provides extra training and mentorship to catch individuals up on any changes in the workforce during their absence.

Among the many benefits of returnship programs, companies gain exposure to a larger pool of candidates with diverse experiences and transferrable skill sets. For those returning to their careers, employees freshen up skills, learn new skills, connect with professionals in their network, and become part of a support system. Returnships are a win-win for everyone.

AVID Leaders

Our client partners value the critical role played by diversity and inclusion in sectors where recruitment, development and retention strategies are vital to overcoming talent shortages.

Our AVID Leaders programme works with AVID (Authentic, Vulnerable, Inclusive and Diverse) leaders to change the way organisations approach diversity and inclusion.

The aim of this programme is to engage senior leaders in a conversation and to help firms hire more individuals from under-represented groups by connecting you with the diverse talent that does exist.

We help our clients align purpose and profit by building teams with a broad range of perspectives and experience, so that they can see the positive benefits of fresh thinking and new solutions and the impact this has on performance and culture.

We provide meaningful data on the size of the talent pool, honest and unfiltered feedback from your own employees, clients and candidates and executive coaching to help senior executives develop empathy and passion to do better for their employees.

Our support is backed up with expert advice and guidance from our AVID Leaders, a group of high-profile influencers and distinguished coaches who work with our network of senior executives to give them access to those voices they wouldn’t ordinarily hear.

As a female in the industry, I value the determination that Falcon Brook has to educate the market to the importance of diverse hiring. Falcon Brook has close relationships with executive females in my industry and I know that my peers trust and respect the firm and its people. I would highly recommend Falcon Brook as a search firm, especially for companies who are serious about their diversity goals.
